Are you one of  50 million people affected this year by seasonal allergies? The symptoms of seasonal allergies can really be a bummer and take away from this beautiful time of the year. We’ve got some ideas to support your body during allergy season.

Remove Dietary Allergens

According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, it’s very common for people to be allergic to more than one thing. You can’t control the pollen count for the day, but you can control your intake of food allergens.  Your food allergy can be amplifying your seasonal allergies.

When you feel allergy symptoms, cut back on the most common foods with allergens:

Milk, Cheese, Bread, Wheat, Pasta, Baked Goods, White Sugar, Soda, Vegetable and Canola oil. Also, stay away from Deli Meats and other processed foods.

Consider a cleanse of some sort or fasting for 24 hours.  This will help reset your body and gut.

Exercise

Cardio increases blood flow throughout the body and strengthens your immune system. This increased blood flow helps your body eliminate irritants like pollen and other environmental toxins.

It does this through sweat and other bodily fluids.

Cleanse Your Nose

Your sinuses can get filled with pollen, dust and dander, causing mucus and challenging air flow during spring allergy season.

We love our neti-pot as an all-natural way to clear sinuses. The FDA suggests using a nasal cleanse with iodine-free salt and distilled water.

Unboiled tap water in a neti-pot should not be used. There could be trace levels of bacteria in the water that your stomach acid would kill if you drink it, but your nose cannot. Make sure the water is boiled and completely cooled before use.

Diffuse Essential Oils

We can break up congestion by inhaling beneficial plant compounds found in essential oils.

Essential oils have terpenes, which stimulate our olfactory system. Inhaling essential oils gives your brain direct access to the terpenes.

Some of the best essential oils for seasonal allergies include:

Eucalyptus

Tea Tree Oil

Chamomile

Peppermint

Lavender

A great way to support your body during allergy season is to add essential oils to a warm bath. Farm to Health Organics CBD Bath Bombs contain lavender essential oil, which is one of the most popular essential oils to use during allergy season. The cocoa seed butter will calm dry skin and the 25mg of hemp oil will help your body relax from the tension of allergies.

Air Purifier

We are constantly breathing in stagnant air that carries potential allergens.

Did you know that the EPA says that the average American spends 90% of their days indoors?

Run an air purifier with at least a HEPA filter. HEPA will capture large particles in the air, such as pollen and dust. If you have the resources, consider getting an air purifier that also has a carbon filter. Carbon will catch smaller allergens and toxins, such as bacteria and mold.

Steam

Boil some water and pour it into a bowl and sit with your face over the steaming water with a towel draped over your head. You can also add essential oils to the water to help clear congestion.

Steam is an inexpensive way to support your body during allergy season.

Use these tricks to help support your body all allergy season long. Don’t let seasonal allergies cause you to stay inside all spring!
